A traditional coconut shell ladle with a long plain wooden handle, the sort used for stirring and serving curries, sambols and sweetmeats straight from the pot. The shell bowl is gentle on clay chatti and non-stick pans and will not scratch or conduct heat, so it suits home kitchens as well as restaurants and caterers cooking Sri Lankan food in volume. Sold as the large size; overall length is about 40–45 cm, so check before ordering if you need an exact match.
