A heavy cast aluminium thachchi — a deep, wide, round-bottomed frying pan with two riveted loop handles for lifting when full. Built for bulk work over gas or firewood: frying, tempering, deep-frying short eats, curries, sweetmeats and rice dishes cooked in volume. Suits hotel, restaurant and catering kitchens, plus large households cooking for functions; the name gives about 24.5 inches outside diameter across the rim, which we read as the vendor's stated OD rather than a base measurement.
