A heavy cast aluminium athili — the deep, round-bottomed Sri Lankan cooking pan with two cast lug handles, used for frying, tempering and cooking curries, sweetmeats and bulk rice dishes. The thick walls hold heat well over gas or firewood, so it suits busy kitchens as much as home cooking. This is the 9 size in our range (a vendor size code, not a measurement); mouth diameter is about 30 cm, so check before ordering if it must fit a specific burner.
